Terrace Theater Rules
Before attending a performance at the Terrace Theater in Long Beach, we recommend you brush up on the rules to prevent any problems upon arrival. Like its sister venues in The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, the Terrace Theater follows the same Code of Conduct & Venue Guidelines. Some policies may vary between performers, such as age restrictions and phone policies, so we recommend checking your tickets for more precise details.
Age Restrictions
The Terrace Theater offers some children’s shows, which children of all ages may attend. Children under the age of two can enter for free during certain performances, but you may need to buy them specific tickets for kid-friendly shows. Children are not allowed entry for Long Beach Symphony performances.
We recommend checking the age restriction for your specific performance. You can also find content warnings and other pertinent information on your tickets.
Photography Rules
The Terrace Theater in Long Beach strictly prohibits professional photography and all associated equipment. However, depending on the performance, you may be able to take photos or videos using your personal cell phone, disposable camera, or non-professional camera. You cannot use the flash on your device, and you may need to turn it off entirely.
The following are prohibited at all shows:
» Professional cameras
» GoPros
» Tripods or monopods
» Selfie sticks
» Audio recorders
» Professional video cameras
» Detachable lenses longer than 2”
If you have the artist’s approval, you may be allowed to bring smaller point-and-shoot cameras with non-detachable lenses.
Prohibited Items
The Terrace Theater prohibits all guests from bringing in the following items as well:
» All weapons (including pepper spray, tasers, knives, etc.)
» Alcohol
» Outside food or beverages
» E-cigarettes, vape pens, or cartridge refills
» Any controlled substances or illegal paraphernalia

The bag policy can vary between shows and performers. In general, you can typically bring bags that are smaller than 5” x 8” x 2”. All bags are subject to search upon arrival.
Code of Conduct
The Terrace Theater reserves the right to ask guests to leave if they violate the venue’s Code of Conduct policies. If you’re asked to leave for violating policies, you will not receive a refund for your ticket.
The general Code of Conduct policies include the following:
» No “moshing”
» No crowd surfing or stage diving
» No blocking aisles
» No sitting in standing-only areas
» No excessive or underage drinking
» No violence or threatening language
To help everyone around you enjoy the performance, do your best to stay quiet during the show. Turn your phone off and save your snacks, bathroom breaks, and chit-chat for the intermission. Avoid standing on seats or intentionally blocking the view of the person behind you.
Dress Code
The Terrace Theater in Long Beach does not enforce a strict dress code. That being said, we do recommend wearing something appropriate for the occasion. For example, if you’re attending a classical music concert, you may want to wear slightly dressy attire to suit the occasion, but if you’re attending a comedy, you can likely dress casually.
Acceptable Payment Methods
The Terrace Theater box office accepts cash and cards, including Mastercard, Visa, and American Express. You can also use the same payment methods for on-site bars.
Late Arrivals
Your purchased seat will not be guaranteed if you arrive late for your scheduled performance. The on-site management team will seat you according to their discretion. Depending on the event you’re attending, you may need to wait for an appropriate break in the performance to be seated so you do not disturb the crowd or the artist.
We recommend arriving plenty early for your performance to avoid any issues. For example, the Classical Series at the Terrace Theater hosts pre-concert talks, allowing you to listen to guest conductors and musicologists discuss insights on the program and their work before the performance begins. By arriving as soon as the Plaza opens, you can soak in the comfortable environment and all of the performance features.
